ERECTION ENGINEERING

Erection Engineering, Stability Analysis and Truss Lifts

STEEL ERECTION ENGINEERING
Steel Erection Planning & Sequencing
We develop detailed erection plans that outline the safest and most efficient sequence for installing structural steel. Our engineering expertise ensures proper load distribution, crane placement, and temporary bracing to optimize workflow and reduce project delays.
Temporary Bracing & Stability Design
Our team designs temporary bracing and stability solutions to keep structures secure throughout the erection process. We analyze load paths, wind forces, and construction sequences to prevent structural instability and ensure worker safety.
Crane Lift Engineering & Rigging Plans
We provide engineered crane lift and rigging plans that maximize efficiency and safety during steel installation. Our calculations ensure proper load handling, crane positioning, and lift sequencing to streamline on-site operations.
Field Engineering & Problem Solving
We offer responsive field engineering support to address unexpected challenges during steel erection. Whether it’s on-site modifications, fit-up issues, or last-minute design adjustments, our team provides practical, cost-effective solutions to keep projects on track.
Lifting Plans
We develop engineered lifting plans that ensure safe, efficient, and precise steel erection by optimizing crane placement, load distribution, and rigging configurations.
Stability Analysis
Our stability analysis evaluates structural integrity during erection, ensuring proper load transfer, temporary bracing, and safety compliance to prevent instability.
Lifting Lugs
We design custom lifting lugs that facilitate secure handling and installation of heavy steel components, ensuring compliance with load-bearing and safety requirements.
Cantilever Bracing
Our cantilever bracing solutions provide temporary or permanent stability for extended steel structures, ensuring strength and safety during construction and beyond.
Truss Stability
We engineer truss stability systems that prevent deflection, buckling, or misalignment during lifting and installation, optimizing safety and structural performance.
Field Fixes
Our team provides rapid, engineered field fixes to resolve unexpected steel erection challenges, minimizing delays and ensuring compliance with structural requirements.
Shoring Towers
We design shoring towers that offer temporary structural support during steel erection, ensuring stability and load-bearing capacity for multi-level projects.
Temporary Bracing
Our temporary bracing solutions secure steel structures during construction, preventing movement, deflection, and collapse until permanent supports are in place.

Erection Engineering

We provide engineering support to steel erectors to ensure structures are stable and safe during erection. Our comprehensive analysis looks at the structure during erection for temporary construction and wind loads and provides sequencing or bracing recommendations to help the steel erector keep the structure stable in an efficient manner. We're well versed in long span truss analysis and stability, including the use of shoring towers and truss lift plans utilizing two heavy-lift cranes.

Our team is responsive and works to provide quick solutions during projects to keep your team moving.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Southern Steel Engineers, we understand that every project is unique and often raises important questions. Our FAQ section provides clear and concise answers to common inquiries regarding our services, project processes, industries we serve, and how we ensure efficiency in delivering structural steel engineering solutions.

1. Do you collaborate with fabricators and erectors?

Yes, we coordinate with fabricators and erectors. We want to make sure that we design efficient connections for the shop and easily constructible connections for the erector in the field. Collaboration early in the process is critical to ensure all parties are on the same page.

2. Do you have the capacity to handle large-scale projects?

Yes, Southern Steel Engineers has the expertise, resources, and technical capabilities to manage large-scale structural steel projects. Our team is equipped to handle high-volume connection designs, complex delegated design tasks, and extensive shop drawing reviews for projects of any size. Our team has successfully completed design on several projects in excess of 10,000 Tons with the largest being approximately 40,000 Tons.

3. How do you handle project scheduling and deadlines?

Southern Steel Engineers takes a proactive approach to project management. We use advanced scheduling tools and regular progress updates to ensure we meet deadlines.

We prioritize design for early sequences as well as long lead-time items. Our proactive approach starts at the project kickoff, where we identify RFI’s and key coordination issues. From there we work to provide designs as quickly as possible in priority sequences to get the steel detailer moving and then ultimately steel into the shop and then field.
